“Once I get the opportunity on the final 11..”- Anderson Phillip willing to play in conditions that favor fast bowling against Aussies

The West Indies team is scheduled to visit Australia for two Test matches in November and the West Indies Test squad that will participate in that has been named by CWI Satueday (29).

As usual, Kraigg Brathwaite leads the team and Tagenarine Chanderpaul joins as a new player while all-rounder Roston Chase who were out of the squad due to injury, and middle-order batsman Shamarh Brooks, have been recalled.

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force fast bowler Anderson Philip has also got the opportunity to represent West Indies in the two-Test series in Australia and he is excited about that.

The 26-year-old right-arm pacer will be accompanied by his Red Force teammates pacer Jayden Seals and wicketkeeper Joshua de Silva, Anderson Phillip told the ‘Sunday express’ that the conditions in Australia suited his style of bowling.

He said that he is stronger for the red ball and that playing a Test in Australia is something he has been looking forward to and is excited about.

“Playing cricket down there is something I have always been looking forward to. I love Test cricket and I think my strength is with the red ball. I am really looking forward to it and we will see how it goes from there.”

“I am not intimidated by anything, I just go out and do my best.”

“The different conditions and the pitches down there should suit my type of bowling so I look forward and I am hoping I can have a good experience down there.”

“Once I get the opportunity on the final 11, I just want to go out there and showcase myself and just be Anderson.”

Having taken 70 wickets in 19 matches in first-class cricket, Phillip will make his first tour with the West Indies Test side with just one match under his belt, having only made his debut against Bangladesh in June.

Senior player Shannon Gabriel was again overlooked by Desmond Haynes and the selection committee. Apart from Seals and Phillips, other fast bowlers in the squad are Kemar Roach, Alzzari Joseph, Raymon Reifer, and Jason Holder.

Australia on November 10 and are scheduled to play a three-day warm-up match against the ACT/NSW XI at the Phillip Oval in Canberra on Thursday the 17th.
