‘Discipline, hard work key to success in T20 franchise cricket’, says Sherfane Rutherford

25-year-old left-hand Rutherford is one of the purest hitters of the cricket ball. There is a very good demand in various leagues across the world and hence extensive experience in the T20 format. This player’s day, can be absolutely ruthless with the bowlers and tear apart any bowling attack.

Rutherford received the most unique, unusual reward for becoming the Player of the Series in the Global T20 Canada tournament.

GT20 Canada tournament concluded where Sherfane Rutherford helped his side Montreal Tigers win the final against Surrey Jaguars at the TD Cricket Arena in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, and the left-hander got half-an-acre land in the USA as his reward for being the Player of the Series.

Sherfane Rutherford was also the Man of the Match in the final for scoring 38* runs off 29 balls to lift Montreal Tigers chasing down the target of 131 runs in the final.

It is clear that he will certainly be a valuable member of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots team in 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL)

“To win a tournament, firstly, as a team you need everyone to gel well. I think one of the key factors to winning a tournament is when everyone works together. Even if we are losing, we all have to stay together and show character. In the end, it comes (down) to hard work and the team that puts in most work and stays disciplined. I think winning a tournament comes when you do the basics right and you stay in the game longer than the other teams.” He added

Further commenting, Rutherford believes that he can return to the West Indies team if he performs well in the leagues,

“Definitely! It started with the CPL, and I know these tournaments will help me. If I put in some good performances, I can play international cricket and represent the West Indies. Hopefully, with some good performances, I can be back in the (WI) team, and stay there.” he said
