The inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League which was firstly scheduled to start on 20 September 2022 was re-scheduled to start on 12 December 2022, but it has been re-scheduled for the second time to start from 23 December 2022 after a franchise team Kathmandu Gurkhas got replaced by Kathmandu Knights as Kathmandu Gurkhas stepped back from the event.
According to the second re-scheduled fixtures of Nepal T20 League 2022, the event will start on 23 December 2022 and will run till 10 January 2023, having 11 January 2023 as the reserve day if the final match of the event can not complete on the 10th January of 2023.
Meanwhile, Janakpur Royals, one of the six franchise teams in the Nepal Twenty20 League, have signed Fast bowler Kesrick Williams as their overseas player.
A seasoned campaigner on the global Twenty20 circuit, Williams rose to prominence in the 2016 Caribbean Premier League when he took 17 wickets for Jamaica Tallawahs to become the third-highest wicket-taker in the edition.
Williams, in a press release issued by Janakpur, hopes to bring a Caribbean flavor to bring home the title for Janakpur.
“I am happy to be a part of the Janakpur Royals in this year’s NepalT20. I will bring some Caribbean flavor to help bring home the championship.”
Williams made his debut for West Indies on 27 September 2016 in a T20I match against Pakistan. He has taken 41 T20I wickets and 9 ODI wickets.
Janakpur team owner Govind Khandelwal said his global experience will be beneficial to Janakpur Royals.
“I am excited to announce the signing of Kesrick Williams as a foreign player for the upcoming season. His vast global experience and unique notebook celebration will endear him to the fans of Janakpur Royals.”
Apart from this, Chadwick Walton, the West Indian batsman and wicketkeeper, also signed with Janakpur on Saturday.
