Matthew Forde’s 52 off 30 and 4 for 11 helped to seal Dambulla Aura’s win In the 20th match of the LPL 2022 (the last match of the 1st round).
Twenty-year old WI allrounder combined an economy rate of 2.75 with a batting strike rate of 173 in Colombo. But his team wasn’t able to qualify for the playoffs.
Galle gladiators, who batted first, manage to score 129 runs for the loss of 8 wickets at the end of the 20 overs.
Nuvanindu Fernando who played a valuable inning scored 63 runs. His innings included 5 sixes and 3 fours.
In bowling, West Indian young player Matthew Ford managed to take 4 wickets for 11 runs. Noor Ahmed, Dilum Sudheera and Sikandar Raza took one wicket each.
In reply, Dambulla Aura passed the winning target by losing 6 wickets at the end of 14.2 overs. But they had to cross the winning Run in 12 overs to enter the next round. Matthew Ford scored 52 off 30 balls, while Jordan Cox scored 34 off 21 balls.
In bowling, Nuwan Thushara and Imad Wasim took 2 wickets each.
