The West Indies team has currently toured South Africa for a full series where they will play two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
Two-time Twenty20 World Cup champion Samuel Badree has been appointed as the assistant coach of the white-ball West Indies team for the tour of South Africa.
Samuel Badree has been the Spinning Coach of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020, Assistant Coach of Dubai Capitals in the inaugural ILT20, and has previously worked with CWI.
Badree expressed his happiness over the appointment and termed it as an extension of his association with West Indies Cricket.
“I worked in the IPL previously and with CWI for some time now and I recently came back from Dubai where I was assistant coach of the Dubai Capitals in the ILT20. This is really an extension of my collaboration with Cricket West Indies and I look forward to working with our team as we try to get the better of the Proteas.”
“I have a very good relationship with the players and I believe I can add value to this group based on my experience and skill set. I am thrilled to be given this opportunity.”
West Indies are awaiting the results of the other bilateral series to determine whether they qualify directly for the 50-over World Cup in India later this year.
Also, the results of the Twenty20 matches will determine whether they qualify for the Twenty20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA in 2024.
