A blistering, unbeaten half-century from embattled West Indies left-hander Shimron Hetmyer enabled table leaders Rajasthan Royals to pull off a stunning chase against Gujarat Titans and a three-wicket win in the Indian Premier League on Sunday.
Gujarat Titans posted a strong total of 177 in their 20 overs on the back of David Miller’s 46 and Shubman Gill’s 45. The RR chase wasn’t going in the right direction as the GT bowlers were on the money during the powerplay overs and dismissed the dangerous Yashavi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler early on.
Sanju Samson played a captain’s knock of 60 before Hetmyer came in to change the complexion of the game. The hard-hitting West Indian batter played a scintillating knock of 56 runs from 26 balls and his innings consisted of two boundaries and five sixes.
Fans online labeled Shimron Hetmyer as an ‘underrated finisher’ for his match-winning knock against GT and sublime form in IPL 2023.
