Brian Lara demands to move WTC Final out of England, suggests Caribbean venue – check details here!

West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara has joined India captain Rohit Sharma in suggesting that future World Test Championship (WTC) finals should be held outside of England. Following India’s defeat to Australia in the WTC Final, Rohit Sharma had expressed his desire for the one-off event to be played in different locations. Now, Lara has echoed Sharma’s sentiments.

India suffered a heavy 209-run loss to Australia at London’s Kennington Oval in the WTC Final, marking their second consecutive defeat in the tournament’s final, both of which were held in England.

Former West Indies captain Brian Lara feels that the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) should be played in Barbados. The 54-year-old said that the two toppers of the two-year championship cycle deserve to play in a dream destination and enjoy the island life.

Lara, in response to an Instagram post, expressed his belief that the next WTC Final should take place in Barbados, his home country, specifically at the Kensington Oval in March. He feels that the top two teams deserve to experience the island nation’s favorable weather.

While responding to ESPNCricinfo on Instagram, Lara wrote:

“I think it should be played in Barbados in March. The two teams deserve that dream destination, play the finals and enjoy island life.”

Rohit Sharma had earlier raised questions about the scheduling and location of the WTC Final after India’s defeat to Australia. He wondered why the one-off match is always held after the IPL final, usually in June or July, and only in England. Sharma emphasized that the final could be played at any time and in any part of the world, not restricted to England.
