Hetmyer set for West Indies return during white-ball series against India – Check Details Here

According to Cricnation592 Shimron Hetmyer is set to return to the West Indies squad during the upcoming white-ball series against India.

That ODI series starts next week in Barbados and some of the players, including Hetmyer are encamped in Barbados.
Hetmyer last played for the West Indies last year August.

Hetmyer had recently made himself available for selection for the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe, but he was left out of the squad because the management wanted to give a longer run to the players who had performed well in South Africa, where West Indies drew the ODI series 1-1 and took the T20I series 2-1.

Hetmyer has not played an ODI since July 2021 and last turned out for West Indies in a T20I in August 2022. He was then left out of the T20 World Cup squad last year after he failed to board a rescheduled flight to Australia.

In last month West Indies’ newly-appointed white-ball coach Daren Sammy has had “in-depth conversations” with Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine about their reintegration into the national side.

India and West Indies will clash with each other in ODI series in July this year. During IND vs WI ODI series, three matches will be played while IND vs WI T20I series will witness 5 matches.

India and West Indies last played an ODI series in July 2022. During the away series, India won all 3 games against West Indies. This time too, the men-in-blue will aim for a similar result.

Shai hope is the captain of West Indies and will lead the team in IND vs WI ODI series.
