SA20 Auction; Romario Shepherd joins Durban Super Giants for SA T20

The SA20 Auction took place on Wednesday (September 27). The auction for the 2nd edition of the franchise tournament saw the six franchises formulate their team for the upcoming season.

The second season of SA20 will start from January 10, 2024 as Joburg Super Kings will take on inaugural season winners Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the first match.

The six teams who will take part in SA20 are – Durban Super Giants, Paarl Royals, MI Cape Town, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Joburg Super Kings, and Pretoria Capitals. Ahead of that, let’s take a look at the squads of all six teams ahead of the SA20 2024.

Caribbean all-rounder Romario Shepherd was sold to the Super Kings for US$44,296 and JSK also signed Wayne Madsen for the same amount.

Romario Shepherd was listed as a bowler in the SA20 Auction list, every team will consider him to be a very effective bowling all-rounder. He has scored close to 900 runs at an average of 22.78 and a strike rate of 150.60, and will be very handy in closing out an innings or chasing a target.

The 28-year-old is also a gun bowler, capable of operating in different stages, and is a death bowling specialist. Shepherd was part of the Johannesburg Super Kings (JSK) in the first edition of the SA20.

Shepherd is a player who is highly sought after in most T20 leagues and is someone who can be useful to a franchise in many ways.
