Cricket West Indies (CWI) has unveiled its 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI series against England in December, with some notable inclusions and exclusions grabbing the attention of cricket fans worldwide.
The most eye-catching thing in the squad is, Darren Bravo left out from the West Indies ODI squad against England, the selectors also recalled experienced wicket-keeper/batsman Shane Dowrich, who played his only ODI in 2019, and opener Kjorn Ottley, who played two ODIs in January 2021.
Darren led Trinidad & Tobago to the title in the just-ended Super50 Cup 2023, scoring the most runs overall. He scored 416 runs at an average of 83.20 and a strike rate of 92.03, batting at No. 3. He was one of just two players with more than 400 runs in the tournament.
Bravo finished last season’s 50-over competition as one of Trinidad & Tobago’s top run scorers with 240 runs at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 76.92.
However, unform star batter Shimron Hetmyer, return to the 50-over lineup. Windies chief selector Desmond Haynes is looking forward to the ODI series against England and believes Hetmyer will perform well.
In recently Concluded interview, Shimron Hetmyer form a concern for West Indies says Lead Selector Dr Desmond Haynes.
“Yes, I believe so because obviously you’ve been know what shimron hetmyer can do. So it’d be it’s always going into a competition we want to know that that is the feel comfortable you know in the batting position and also be informed.
So yes, but I believe that with hetmyer’ experience you know I believe. Man with the portrait. But yes, anytime that you see someone playing and not getting runs, you know with their ability of that mark it would be, it would be a concern Monday. You know, I mean.” he said
Hetmyer recorded 21,24,04,10,19,05,62* and 03 in the Super50 Cup 2023 where he averaged 21 with the bat for Guyana Harpy Egals.
