Guyana Amazon Warriors’ captain Imran Tahir said his team is ready for the challenge of the Trinbago Knight Riders on Sunday at Providence.
The Knight Riders beat the Barbados Royals by 30 runs on Friday, while the Amazon Warriors beat the St Lucia Kings by 35 runs on Saturday.
The defending champions beat the Knight Riders in the 2023 CPL final and Tahir is not taking on the four-time champions lightly.
“Every game is a game to play for and another opportunity for all the guys. (The TKR) are a very good team and we don’t take it for granted and are really looking forward to a challenge,” Tahir said.
The former South Africa international said having a strong spin attack has made his job a lot easier.
“The surface has been different, some grip more, but we have three-four spinners and we play according to the situation,” he said.
“Having a combination like that makes my job easier as a captain. If I need to bowl, otherwise Moeen (Ali) and (Gudakesh) Motie are there,” Tahir added.
Meanwhile, Player of the Match Shimron Hetmyer said his positive mindset has made a difference during the current campaign.
“I think it’s just the mindset. I’m trying to be as clear as possible and enjoy my game. To be honest, we just choose the bowlers; we’ve batted a lot together,” he said.
Hetmyer said that it was nice to play at home in familiar conditions in front of his family.
