BCCI released the full list of 590 players who set to go under the hammer in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Out of the 590 players, 370 Indian players and 220 overseas players will up for auction. 33 players were retained by the 10 IPL franchises
The 8 existing teams retained a total of 27 players in their squad. Later, the two new franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad picked 3 players each from the pool of retained players.
There are 34 players from West Indies who will go under the hammer in the auction. but T20 great ” Universe Boss” Chris Gayle has decided to opt out of the IPL 2022 mega auction to happen in Bengaluru on 12 and 13 February.
Since 2009 it marked the end of an era as this will be the first time when the legendary West Indies batter will not be part of the tournament.
Gayle has represented the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Punjab Kings (formerly known as King XI Punjab) over the last 14 years.
Pollard was retained by Mumbai Indians and so was Russell and Narine by KKR. Bravo was released by Chennai Super Kings. However, it is very expected that the franchise will go behind him to get him back on the team.
All the 10 IPL franchises : Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow SuperGiants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Team Ahmedabad will look to build a solid team with some of the biggest national and international stars of the game.
