A number of Indian cricketers have tested positive for Covid-19 just ahead of the three match ODI series which is to begin on February 6.
Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer have returned positive for the coronavirus ahead of the West Indies series.
The Indian team assembled in Ahmedabad on January 31 for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies and were going through a three-day isolation period post their break from the South Africa series.
the BCCI said that a total of seven members of the Indian contingent tested positive, including T Dilip (Fielding Coach), B Lokesh (Security Liaison Officer) and Rajeev Kumar (Massage Therapist) after three rounds of testing.
All those who have tested positive have been moved to a different floor in the hotel and are in isolation.
The Indian team is currently in quarantine in Ahmedabad in preparation for the six-match white-ball series against West Indies. “Every member was also asked to undergo an RT-PCR test at home before embarking on their journey to Ahmedabad and the travel was undertaken only after testing negative,” the BCCI clarified.
