West Indies death bowler Romario Shepherd was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 7.75 crore during the accelerated part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction on Sunday.

Shepherd was in the sights of five franchises as each of them tried to make a bid for him but it was SRH who came out trumps in the end and will avail the services of the big all-rounder.
Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians fought it out with initial bids and they went past INR 2.5 crores. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) then hopped in to fight with MI. As MI bowed out, SRH made a grand entrance into the scheme of things.
Both franchises didn’t hesitate in raising the paddle but as soon as the price neared INR 5.75 crores, CSK was out. Another late entrance was made, this time by Rajasthan Royals.
They tried to snoop in and take Shepherd but SRH remained adamant and their persistence finally paid off with a winning bid of INR 7.75 crores.
Shepherd made his international debut in an ODI against Afghanistan in November 2019.
He debut on to the shortest format in the T20I series against Ireland over a year later.
In a career spanning over two years, Shepherd has represented West Indies in 24 white-ball games.
He has taken 20 wickets and scored 197 runs.
Shepherd has a strike rate of 160.27 in T20Is.

Shepherd has played a total of 44 T20 matches as of now.
The medium-pacer has scalped 53 wickets at an incredible average of 21.18. The tally includes the best match haul of 4/13.

Shepherd represents Guyana Amazon Warriors in West Indies’ premier T20 league, the Caribbean Premier League.
He was the second-highest wicket-taker in the 2021 edition, having scalped 18 wickets from nine matches at an average of 14.11.
He also scored 109 runs at a strike rate of 165.15.
Shepherd also featured in the 2021 CPL Team of the Tournament.
