“He will get it right and get back to the West Indies squad pretty soon” – Kieron Pollard

Speaking at a pre press conference, West Indies captain Kiran Pollard described Hetmyer as one of the team’s most wanted players. Shimron Hetmyer is the talk of the these days

Due to Fitness Issue 25 year – old Hetmyer missed this year the tour of Ireland, England and India. As well as This is not the first time he has lost his place in the team, having lost the previous tour of Sri Lanka in the same year before and after the 2020 tour of Sri Lanka.

West Indies captain Pollard said he was a “talented player” and hoped that this would be rectified soon enough and that he would return to the team soon.

“I think the coaches have spoken on their assessment of Shimron. I miss Shimron when he is not around. He is a young player and a superstar in his own right. He will get it right and get back to the West Indies squad pretty soon. I will be looking forward to having him.”

Meanwhile, Shimron Hetmyer was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 8.5 Crores during IPL 2022 auction. Delhi Capitals tried to buy their player back in the team but Rajasthan Royals managed to seal the player in their squad. Earlier, Hetmyer announced a base price of Rs. 1.5 crore for himself. He was part of Delhi Capitals in the last season.

Shimron Hetmyer is a strong middle-order batsman in Indian Premier League. So far, the West Indies batsman has played 31 matches in the tournament and accounts for 517 runs. He was part of IPL in the last three seasons.

Pollard added that he has a bright future and that the 25-year-old will never be dropped from the West Indies squad.

“We know what he can do as an individual and he has a bright future. You can never write off a guy who is 25. My love for Shimron is paramount, and he knows that and we all know that. It is a matter of time for him to do all that is necessary to get back to the team. We will welcome him with open arms.”

Earlier, Desmond Haynes also mentioned that Shimron Hetmyer  in the team’s future plans “Hetmyer is in our plans, so there’s no question about it.” said Haynes

” I think what we need to do is put our arm around these guys and let them know we’re interested in their development, and to also [let them] understand that there’s a level of fitness that is required to play at international level.”
