“The price tag does not really matter to me, it’s the runs I score that help contribute to the team’s cause that matter.” – Shimron Hetmyer

Following the release of West Indies attacker Shimron Hetmyer from the Delhi team, Rajasthan Royals bought him for US $ 1.1 million for the Indian Premier League this year.

In his short interview, he said that it was a great pleasure to play under former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara and hoped to learn not only about the short ball format but also about the red ball from him.

“It’s very exciting to play under someone like Kumar Sangakkara. A legend of the game, I’ve heard some amazing things about him and can’t wait to get his brains on certain aspects of my game, that can help become better not just in the white-ball format but also in the longer version of the game with the red ball.”

He also mentioned that he has a lot of interest in the Rajasthan Royals team from his friend Evin Lewis and that he is happy to be playing this time around, said Guyaner player Hetmyer.

“I’m really excited to get going for the Royals. I’ve heard some really nice things about the franchise from my good friend Evin Lewis, and I can’t wait to get going and just enjoy myself as part of the squad.”

He also stated that he did not care about the price he received and that only the points he scored for the team mattered.

There’s no pressure of the price tag on me, it’s a challenge to help the Royals when I’m out there. The price tag does not really matter to me, it’s the runs I score that help contribute to the team’s cause that matter.”

He also said that he is ready to do whatever the team wants.  He also always believes that giving him a chance to be there and that performance will come no matter what the situation in the sport.

The 25-year-old left-hander was first selected for the ipl in 2019 by the RCB team.  Being the only West Indies player in the squad, he said tough one to start off in franchise cricket.

He also mentioned some of the benefits he has received from ipl.

“IPL, in general, has been a wonderful learning experience that has taught me to look at myself and my game differently and has enabled me to learn and develop the right processes.”
