“Will be a pity for Rajasthan” – Mpumelelo Mbangwa on Shimron Hetmyer’s return in IPL 2022

He is back in the Royals bubble after West Indies’ Shimron Hetmyer returned to Guyana on May 08 during the IPL due to the birth of his first child.

Now out of quarantine after joining the team last week, Hetmyer Set to play the Royals’ last IPL 2022 league fixture against Chennai Super Kings at the Brabourne stadium on Friday (May 20).

From the beginning of the IPL, he was able to give his maximum contribution to the RR team. In the Last match he played against Punjab Kings on May 8, he scored 31 runs off 16 balls and were instrumental in the victory.

Hetmayer is the second most prolific batsman after Rajasthan Royals’ Jose Butler (before leaving the team). He averaged 291 runs in 11 games, averaging 72.75 and hitting 166.29.

Veteran commentator Mpumelelo Mbangwa said in an interview with Cricbuzz that hetmayer will replace James Neesham for the match against Chennai.

“With him coming back after a break, he might straight away get on the bike or look to find form, which will be a pity for Rajasthan.”

However, with Neesham being able to give them a few overs, Mbangwa feels Rajasthan might lose out on an extra bowling option. The 45-year-old feels the Royals might need to find a way to bring in someone like Kuldeep Sen too, so that they have an extra bowling option up their sleeve.

On this, Mbangwa stated:

“Shimron Hetmyer might come in for James Neesham, but I consider him (Neesham) a bowling all-rounder. So they will be thinning their bowling. So they might want to try and fit in Kuldeep Sen and make some other changes, which is. difficult. “
