“everybody else bats around him” – Read Force Coach David Furlonge on Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s brilliant century

In-form batsman, son of West Indies Batter Shivnarine Chanderpaul,  Tagenarine Chanderpaul scored his career best 184 against the Jamaica Scorpions in day 3 of the West Indies Championship match at Diego Martin Sporting Complex.

Coming off scores of 140* and 23* against Barbados Pride in the previous match, Chanderpaul batted for over nine and a half hours, faced 425 balls, and struck 25 fours in his fourth century and highest First-Class score.

Also Vishaul Singh scored his ninth first-class century helped Guyana post 584 for seven, responding to the Scorpions first innings total of 393 and give Guyana Harpy Eagles a 191-run first-innings lead.

“In the last couple match days, they made 400 runs plus so we know their strength is their batting, We have to see what kind of wicket we get in the Oval, but we have to be mindful of Chanderpaul, who bats long and everybody else bats around him.” said T&T Red Force Head Coach Furlonge.

When the third day begins, Chanderpaul remained unbeaten on 96 and the Harpy Eagles at 213 for 1, still, 180 runs short of the Scorpions’ first innings total.

Tevin Imlach scored 79 off 198 balls while Leon Johnson struck 57 off 72 deliveries before Singh came to the crease to extend the lead late in the day.
