West Indies, Australia to play historic day/night Test in December. Before That West Indies and Australia are set to play a two-match T20I series before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup.
It will be held on October 5 and 7 at the Metric Stadium, Gold Coast and It will be a good rehearsal for both teams before the T 20 World Cup in the Australian Condition.
A Test series between the two countries is also scheduled for later this year. It’s Named the Frank Worrell Trophy, the first Test will be played from November 30 to December 4 at the Perth Stadium in Australia as a day Test match.
The second Test will be played at the Adelaide Oval from December 8 to 12. It is a day and night Test match and the first day and night Test match of the West Indies against Australia.
The Frank Worrell Trophy is one of the most prestigious in the sport of cricket and is named after the late Sir Frank Worrell, a legend of West Indies cricket and one of the most powerful leaders in the history of the sport.
These two Tests are part of the 2021-2023 ICC World Test Championship and will be played in 2023 to earn a place in the final.
West Indies head coach Phil Simmons shared his thoughts on the tournament and said he had watched several day and night matches in Australia and there was a brilliant atmosphere.
“I’ve watched a couple day/night games in Australia and it’s a brilliant atmosphere. We are looking forward to it. It will be a test for us, but after the way we played against England, we are looking forward to that.”
The 2022 Twenty20 World Cup will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13. The first match of the West Indies will be play against Scotland on October 17 under the group stage.
