The West Indies beat the Netherlands 3-0 in a three-match ODI series. With the final ODI winning by 20 runs, the tourists were able to whitewash the tournament. After the third match, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran spoke about his team’s performance.
Kyle Myers scored 120 and Shamer Brooks 101 not out while Shemron Lewis took three wickets for 67 to lead the West Indies to victory.
Pooran said he was happy with the new team and would be able to know the status of the team during the tour of Pakistan.
“Very pleased with this new team, the first time as a captain. We go to Pakistan now and see where we stand. I want to see myself before as well but love the way the guys have performed with their opportunities, the two debutants performed well and the spinners have bowled well.”
A large number of West Indies spectators came to watch the tournament and Commenting on this, the Skipper said that he was surprised to see the crowd present.
“Today the guys took on the challenge, we stuck to our plans and we came up on top. First time coming to Amsterdam, surprised with the crowd, we have got fans not only from the Caribbean but all over the world, really happy to play in front of this crowd.”
The man of the match was Kyle Mayers and the man of the series was Akeal Hossen. With this victory, the Windies won their first series under pooran captaincy.
Also With these victories, the West Indies are fourth in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League table with 80 bonus points and the Netherlands, on the other hand, are in last place with 25 bonus points.
The West Indies’ next series (tour) is against Pakistan starting on June 8. It consists of three ODIs. The ODIs were part of a series between the two sides in December last year but were postponed due to the spread of COVID-19 in the West Indies camp.
