West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers takes the superb sliding catch to dismiss Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan in the second ODI at Port of Spain in Trinidad on Sunday (July 24).
The left-hander, who scored 97 in the opening game, in the second match and was dismissed for 13 from 31 balls.
but had built a strong 48-run partnership with Shubman Gill at the top of the order. The Indian captain then tried to uppercut a Romario Shepherd delivery, but only found Kyle Mayers in the deep.
The Indian captain attempted an upper-cut and got a decent connection.
However, Mayers ran to his right hand and dove in time to complete a brilliant catch at deep third man.
On the previous delivery, Dhawan was struck on the helmet after he missed a rising delivery from Shepherd.
The Indian skipper walked back to the pavilion with the visitors having only reached 48 in 11 overs in their chase of 312.
Mayers then proceeded to strike two wickets to force a collapse putting the west indies top.
Shubman Gill tried a shot but hit it straight back to the all-rounder, while Suryakumar Yadav chopped one onto his stumps.
Earlier, Mayers scored a 35 to help the West Indies get a solid start.
Talking about the match, Axar Patel’s 64 not out off 35 balls helped India chase down a 312-run target against West Indies With it, India had a 2-0 advantage in the series.
