India have taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series while the third game is scheduled to take place on 27 July, 2022 at the same venue.
According to sources, Shimron Hetmyer passed the fitness test at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Tuesday morning and after clearing the same, he will make a return to the West Indies T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series against India at home. But CWI Selection Panel Doesn’t Confirm yet.
Hetmyer along with other players did the fitness test, where he managed to surpass the required 40-mark on the Yo-Yo test.
Hetmayr last played ODI cricket against Australia in July 2021.
In the pre-Match press conference on Thursday Captain Nicholas Pooran confirmed that Hetmyer is working on his fitness with the squad.
“He is here doing a lot of work on his fitness and that is really nice to see, the effort that he has been putting in,” Pooran said during a media session on Thursday.
“He wants to play for the West Indies and trainers and coaches working with him, so expect to see him sooner than later.
“I have full confidence that he will be putting on the maroon colours again. He has a fitness test to pass shortly, so he is preparing himself for that.” he added
