West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran, who performed well in the second T20, has given the reason for the defeat in the third T20.

India beat West Indies by seven wickets in the third T20 International to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series here on Tuesday.

India chased down the target of 165 with six balls to spare with Suryakumar Yadav top-scoring with a 44-ball 76. Rishabh Pant remained not out on 33 off 26 balls.

For West Indies, Akeal Hosein, Dominic Drakes and Jason Holder took a wicket apiece.

West indies had won the Second T20I by Five wickets after losing the first match by 68 runs.

Earlier, invited to bat, West Indies posted 164 for 5 against India in their allotted 20 overs.

Opener Kyle Mayers top-scored for the West Indies with a 50-ball 73 while Rovman Powell contributed 23.

For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets for 35 runs while Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh got one each.

Nicholas Pooran said they should have dropped India’s wickets early. he felt that we have given a good target to the Indian team.

“I felt that we had to get early wickets, didn’t happen. (Satisfied with total) We felt we had enough. India bowled well, Ashwin and Hardik bowled well. They used the pitch well, wicket was on the slower side. Was happy with 165 and felt we were in the game.” west indies captain said

also, he explains they lost their batting momentum in the middle overs.

“The way we bat, we lose wickets in the middle overs. It was important for us to make partnerships. We lost the match but we did a few positives – like the partnerships. Felt we were 10-15 runs short, early wickets could’ve changed the game for us though.” he added
