“what I cherish the most is being the player with the most titles” – Dwayne Bravo

Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo currently plays for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred. However, they have lost three out of the four matches they have played, so they are currently in a must-win situation.

The Trinidad player, who is playing his first season in the Hundred, told Mirror Sports that the fundamentals of Twenty20 cricket are the same in the Hundred.

“I don’t think it’s much different [to T20 cricket]. The basics remain the same, it’s just a little faster and shorter. It’s very entertaining and I’m enjoying it.”

He also said that it is a pleasure to play in such a global tournament and said bowled very happily so far and will play well in the upcoming matches as well.

“I’ve enjoyed bowling and I’m looking forward to the last few games that I have left. Every tournament is good, every tournament has the best players playing so it’s not about where it ranks but I know it’s a prestigious tournament and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to play in a global tournament like The Hundred.”

The Superchargers have a strong squad with veteran internationals like Bravo, Faf du Plessis, David Wiese and Wahab Riaz as well as quality English stars like David Willey, Adil Rashid, Harry Brook and Adam Lyth.

However, after they won their first match against Manchester Originals, the Superchargers lost all the remaining three matches to stay sixth in the table.

“It has not been the ideal start we wanted for the tournament with a few losses on the trot. We have to turn it around, we have to back ourselves, we have good depth and a good squad and a very good management staff and captain.”

And,

“Nothing is wrong with losing games, but I think it is important that we really have a better finish in the second half of the tournament. We are in must-win scenarios, but these are things as professional athletes that we have to be prepared for and look forward to the challenge.”

38-year-old Bravo is currently the leading wicket-taker for the Superchargers. He also became the first player to take 600 T20 wickets in the Superchargers’ clash with the Oval Invincibles. He has also won 16 major T20 titles throughout his T20 career and Bravo said,

“It’s good to achieve such a milestone. T20 cricket is the newest form of cricket, it’s a format that was only invented 19 years ago so to become the first player to take 600 wickets is a great achievement.”

As well,

“I was the first to 400 and the first to 500 as well so it’s a good achievement personally, but what I enjoy the most is winning and what I cherish the most is being the player with the most titles and I want to add to my trophy list.”
