The Hundred, Match Highlights: Watch Andre Russell’s explosive half century against defending champions

West Indies’ explosive all-rounder Andre Russell is wreaking havoc with his batting in The Hundred tournament being played in England.

In the 18th match of the tournament, Andre Russell and Jos Buttler smashed scintillating half-centuries as Manchester Originals crushed reigning Hundred champions Southern Brave by 68 runs at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday night.

Russell played an innings of 64 runs in just 23 balls with the help of 6 fours and 5 sixes.

During this his strike rate was 278.26. In this innings, Russell scored 24 runs in five consecutive balls by hitting two sixes and three fours on the bowling of Michael Hogan.

Russell remained unbeaten during his batting, due to which his team Manchester Original put up a mountain-like score of 188 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 100 balls.

Before Russell, the team’s captain Jos Buttler also took a lot of information about the bowlers. He played a blistering innings of 68 runs in 42 balls.

Buttler also hit three fours and five sixes in his innings. Apart from Butler, Philip Salt scored 38 runs in 22 balls for Manchester.

Chasing the huge target of 189 runs given by Manchester, Southern’s team could play only 84 balls in which they scored 120 runs. In this way, the Manchester team won the match by 68 runs.

Paul Walter then took three wickets to help bowl the Brave out for 120, giving the Originals their second win in three days.

Brave have claimed just one win in their opening five matches after a disappointing home defeat which all but ends their chances of defending their title.

Brave openers Quinton De Kock and James Vince shared a rapid 36 in 17 balls, before Sean Abbott snared Vince with a stunning one-handed return catch.

Marcus Stoinis did not last long in his final outing for the Brave, sweeping straight to square-leg off Tom Hartley.

Tristan Stubbs dismissed Alex Davies and claimed the key wicket of De Kock three balls later to effectively end the Brave’s chances.
