West Indies great Chris Gayle put on a stunning show of power-hitting in Jodhpur as he shone at the top of the order for Gujarat Giants in Legends League Cricket 2022 against Bhilwara Kings on Friday, September 30.
Gayle, who was playing for the Giants, hit three sixes and a whopping nine boundaries in his 68-run knock, which came at a strike rate of 170.00.
Chris Gayle, who signed up to play for Gujarat Giants in the second edition of the Legends League Cricket earlier in September, struggled to get going in his opening match of the season in Cuttack on September 27. Gayle managed just 15 from 20 deliveries against the Bhilwara Kings.
However, on Friday, Gayle was at his big-hitting best. The star batter hit 3 sixes and as many as 9 boundaries in a 40-run opening partnership with his West Indies teammate Lendl Simmons before the latter was dismissed for 22 off 18 balls by Jesal Karia.
Gayle found his feet as he dispatched Sudeep Tyagi for a four and a huge six over mid-off in the fourth over.
After Simmons’ dismissal, Gayle forged a 70-run partnership with Yashpal Singh. The 43-year-old was at its best as he added 68-runs off 40 deliveries before Shane Watson dismissed him in the 14th over.
Gayle scored the fastest half-century of the ongoing league. He brought up his fifty with the 100th six of the tournament.

The Giants could not have asked for more from their star opener in Gayle in a must-win encounter. They are currently in the 3rd spot in the 4-team Legends League Cricket points table with 2 wins in 5 matches.
