Hero Caribbean Premier League 2022 title was won by Jamaica Thallwas yesterday after defeating the most successful team in this year’s tournament, the strong Barbados Royals.
After winning the toss, Royals players decided to bat first and scored 161 for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted twenty overs. However, chasing a target of 162 runs, the Thallwahs batsmen easily passed the target by losing only two wickets in 16.1 overs.
This year’s Hero CPL team was selected by the commentary team of Ian Bishop, Samuel Badree, Daren Ganga, Simon Doull and Danny Morrison based on the performance of the players.
Noticeably absent, however, is Brandon King of Jamaica Tallawahs, who is the highest run-scorer in the tournament and one of only three men who have scored hundreds in this year’s tournament.
Also, no Guyana Amazon Warriors player was named in the 12-man squad as was the case of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots team.
The team they selected contained 4 players each from Saint Lucia and Jamaica Thallwahs, as well as 3 players from Barbados Royals and one from Trinbago Knight Riders.
“The team has been picked by the Hero CPL commentary team – Ian Bishop, Samuel Badree, Daren Ganga, Simon Doull and Danny Morrison,” CPL said.

Jason Holder, the anchor of runner-up Barbados Royals, was the leading all-rounder in the CPL 2022 squad, finishing second among the wicket-takers with 17 wickets and 155 runs from 12 matches.
St. Lucia Kings players David Wiese and Alzarri Joseph were named members of the CPL 2022 Team, and Alzarri topped the CPL 2022 highest wicket-taker list. Also, Wies, who took 12 wickets in 9 matches, was in eighth place.
The Jamaica Tallawahs’ fast bowler Mohammad Amir and Knight Riders’ mystery spinner Sunil Narine were also part of the CPL 2022 Team.
Ramon Simmonds was selected as the 12th pick by the selectors due to his excellent performances throughout the tournament. Simmonds is one of the 12 emerging players in the Hero CPL squad and played a vital role in 2022 with 7 wickets for the Barbados Royals.
