The West Indies Cricket Team is all set to tour Australia for a two-match T20I series as they prepare for the T20 World cup that starts later this month.
The series will be divided into two halves as the T20I series will take place before the World cup while the Test series takes place after the showpiece event.
The T20I series will have two matches in the build-up to the World Cup while the Test series will be played at the end of November. The Test series will also consist of two matches.
The 1st T20I of the West Indies Tour of Australia will take place between Australia and West Indies on the 5th of October, 2022 at the Carrara Oval, Queensland.
Australia are in decent form in T20I cricket. Although they were defeated by India in a 3-match series recently, they gave tough competition to the hosts on their home turf.
on the other hand, West Indies have dropped Shimron Hetmyer from their men’s T20 World Cup squad after he missed a “rescheduled” flight to Australia.
CWI said the decision had been taken “unanimously” by the selection panel, which also decided to name Shamarh Brooks as Hetmyer’s replacement.
Also, West Indies have been in terrible form in T20I cricket. India beat them by 4-1 in August and New Zealand beat them by 2-1 right after that. But CPL has given Some Condfidance For Most Of the Players.
However, Seven of West Indies’ squad were part of the CPL final and Pooran said they would take a call on the XI on match day based on how the players had pulled up from the journey.
But some are going to have to play. Shamarh Brooks, who has replaced Hetmyer, won’t arrive for the Australia matches.
West Indies have to go through the qualifiers to reach the Super 12s, so these two matches are an important opportunity to get into gear.
It is their first time in Australia for more than six years and, remarkably, they have won just one international in any format against Australia in Australia since 1997. That was, at least, in a T20I, back in 2013.
Players to look forward to in West Indies;
1. Kyle Mayers – He is a sensational striker of the cricket ball. Mayers paces his innings well and will be a player to look out for in the West Indies Tour of Australia 2022.
2. Akeal Hosein- Hosein has been a consistent performer for West Indies in the recent past. He will look to extend his good form in the upcoming tour of Australia.
