BR vs SLK, CPL 2022 6th Match Highlights; Kyle Mayers burst gives Barbados Royals back-to-back wins

A four-wicket burst from Kyle Mayers with the new ball earned Barbados Royals victory over St Lucia Kings, either side of the latest rain delays to impact the weekend’s Caribbean Premier League action.

The Kings won the toss and opted to field first hoping to take advantage of the effects of the weather.

Mayers had top-scored for Royals, making 36 after sharing a 49-run opening stand with Rahkeem Cornwall, who smashed 32.

Then Mayers added a further 27 for the second wicket with Azam Khan (10), who put on 28 for the third wicket with Quinton de Kock before Royals lost four wickets for 18 runs in 20 balls.

When Mayers departed for 36 with the scorecard reading 76/2 the Royals looked set for a huge total, however, between the 13th and 17th over no boundaries were scored and regular wickets fell to seemingly hand the Kings the advantage.

However late order hitting from David Miller and Joshua Bishop ensured a competitive total was set all the same.

Captain David Miller arrived to hit two sixes in an unbeaten 24 from 15 balls in a 34-run, seventh-wicket stand with Jason Holder (15).

And both Jason Holder and Joshua Bishop added late runs to take Barbados to 162 for 7.

Mark Deyal claimed the wickets of de Kock and Corbin Bosch, ending with figures of 2 for 15. Joseph and Scott Kuggeleijn also picked up two apiece.

In reply, the Kings chase was almost over before it began with Mayers removing the top order with a two-over spell of four wickets for four runs.

Rain threatened to end the match with a no result but DLS reset the total to 103 to win from 9 overs.

Faf Du Plessis and Alzarri Joseph took the game down to the last over but ultimately fell short with the asking rate proving too much.

Berif Score: Barbados Royals 162-7, St Lucia Kings 91-4 – Barbados Royals win by 11 runs (DLS)
