CPL 2022 Final Highlights: Brandon King stars as Jamaica Tallawahs win CPL 2022 title beating Barbados Royals by 8 wickets

Jamaica Tallawahs defeated Barbados Royals by eight wickets on Saturday (Friday night) in the final of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2022) at Providence Stadium in Guyana. This was Jamaica’s third CPL title as they won the title back in 2013 and 2016 as well.

King and Shamarh Brooks set the platform in the run chase with a crisp 86-run stand as Barbados Royals were toppled with ease in the final.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Royals put up 161/7 on the board as Azam Khan scored a 40-ball 51 in a Barbados inning.

Earlier, Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers got them off to a blistering start, combining to score 63 runs in the powerplay. but the remaining batters failed to capitalize on it.

Fabian Allen would remove both openers to bring the Tallawahs back into the game.

In response, Brandon King and Shamarh Brooks would produce an 86-run partnership that frustrated Royal’s bowling attack.

Jamaica Tallawahs suffered an early setback in their chase as opener Kennar Lewis lost his wicket for a duck, but King and Brooks would rebuild at a steady run rate.

Despite Jason Holder taking the wicket of Brooks in the eleventh over, King would lead the rest of the chase as he scored a magnificent 83 runs from 50 balls to see the Jamaica Tallawahs win their third Hero CPL title.
