Guyana Amazon Warriors have announced England international Moeen Ali as a replacement player for their 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. Former England captain Moeen will be joining the defending champions, replacing Pakistan batsman Saim Ayub who is unavailable.
The batting all-rounder’s availability is dependent on his team’s progression in the T20 Blast in the UK. In the interim, New Zealand’s Tim Robinson has been selected as a temporary replacement for Moeen. When Moeen arrives, the 22-year-old Robinson will remain with the Warriors to act as a temporary replacement for Rahmaullah Gurbaz.
Afghanistan powerhouse Gurbaz will leave the squad for international duties after the Barbados leg of the competition. Robinson will take his place in the squad until Gurbaz returns for the Guyana leg of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors made it two wins in two games with a comfortable 40-run win over St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in match seven of the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at Basseterre.
Electing to bat first in rainy conditions could have been seen as a risk but Imran Tahir’s Warriors had no such qualms as they set about posting a sizeable score of 266/7 off their twenty overs. A rope had been dragged around the wet outfield before play began but the showery conditions failed to dampen the Warrior’s run rate.
The Warriors look a strong outfit with bat and ball as they set about trying to go back-to-back in this year’s CPL. Guyana Amazon Warriors are set to play Match 10 of CPL 2024 against Saint Lucia Kings and it remains to be seen if they will be able to carry up their winning momentum.
