Curtly Ambrose slams captain Kraigg Brathwaite and West Indies cricket board for their mistakes in first Test vs India

India in total control of the Test match after the first day’s play. Rohit and debutant Jaiswal have taken it to a comfortable 80/0 at the end of the day.

Another day, another poor performance from a West Indies team as India took firm control of the first Test in Dominica.

After Captain Kraig Brathwaite won the toss and chose to bat, the home side were bowled out for 150 in 64.3 overs.

The West Indies batsmen were left in a spin as Ravichandran Ashwin took 5-60 and Ravindra Jadeja had figures of 3-26 with only debutant Alick Athanaze able to provide a sizeable contribution to the total of 150.

He also didn’t like Kraigg Brathwaite’s decision to bat first after winning the toss.

“There should be grass on the pitch for any game. I don’t understand why the grass has been removed, and the pitch looks like that,” he said.

Ambrose was also surprised to see the hosts batting first despite getting the coin decision in their favor.

“Kraigg should have bowled first to take advantage of the moisture. The bowlers would have liked to attack the Indian batters,” he added.

India will be looking to pile on the runs on Day 2 and will be hoping it won’t have to bat again in this Test match. Stay Tuned for live updates from Day 2.

  1. When he criticized his captain in public- there is no control with this cricketer and eventually he should be punished- large fine and sit down – no discipline .

WI cricket board should not let get off – no matter how good he is- this team sport and the spirit of the game and team is gone when he talks about his captain

    • He said what he had to and wi captain should be held accountable for that poor decision, the entire team should be ashamed of themselves for this disgraceful performance, the wi team are letting their Caribbean supporters down in all formats, very shameful.

  2. If he had put India to bat first and they had the score they presently have, would he have criticized Braithwaite for putting them in the bat first? Seems like he was going to criticize that decision either way.

  3. Why criticize, the team is simply poor. I don’t see a difference whether we bat first or not. We don’t have the bowling to get the better of top class teams
