CWI announces contracts for 2022/23: Three New Players handed retainer contracts, no place for Shimron Hetmyer – Check full list

Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed the international retainer contracts for the West Indies Men’s Team for the 2022-2023 season. Also changed the Men’s retainer contract structure to offer player contracts across all formats of cricket.

For the first time Young seamer Jayden Seales, left-arm seamer Obed McCoy and all rounder Odean Smith have been awarded International retainer contracts but no place for Shimron Hetmyer, dre Russ, Lendl Simmons, Evin lewis.

A total of 18 players have been offered contracts for the period which runs from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.

West Indies Men’s Lead Selector, Dr Desmond Haynes said in an official statement:

“Congratulations to all the players who have been offered contracts. We think this is a dynamic group, with the right mixture of experience and youthfulness to properly represent the people of the Caribbean. With general retainer contracts, it gives us a pool of talented and dedicated cricketers, who can take West Indies cricket forward in years to come.”

CWI Director of Cricket, Jimmy Adams said:

“I am delighted for all the players who have been offered retainers for the upcoming period. This represents a significant investment in the ongoing development of our international players whilst also ensuring our best players are available for selection.”

Meanwhlie, West Indies have announced their white-ball squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Bangladesh.

After Kraigg Brathwaite’s side sealed a 2-0 whitewash in the Test series, the Windies will face a much tougher challenge in the white-ball series, which is Bangladesh’s strongest suit.

The white-ball leg will consist of three T20Is and three One Day Internationals.

The T20I series will begin on July 2 in Dominica, before moving to Guyana for the final T20I.

The entire three-match ODI series will be completed in Guyana, beginning on July 10.
