However, At a virtual press conference on Wednesday, Cricket West Indies (CWI) Lead Selector, Desmond Haynes, said he is hoping West Indies Batter Shimron Hetmyer can sort his fitness issues and find himself back in the West Indies team.
“Hetty’s report is that he is having some injury problems and we are hoping he can get himself fit to get back into the colours of the West Indies.” He stated
Earlier in the year, Hetmyer made himself unavailable for West Indies selection due to the birth of his child. He has not represented West Indies since the Last World T20 in November.
During his IPL , Hetmyer has been a huge contributor to the Royals’ surge up the points table. As the team’s finisher, he has scored 291 runs at an average of 72 (he has remained unbeaten in seven out of 11 innings). A more telling statistic of his influence is his death-overs (17-20) strike rate.
A few days ago, Cricket West Indies announced international retainer contracts for Men’s 18 players for the period 2022 – 2023 but Shimron Hetmyer not in there.
Thank you for clearing the air about the non selection of Mr Hetmyer on the West Indies team.
There are so many outrageous accusations of Hetmyer’s absence.
Let’s hope Mr Hetmyer recuperate from his setback and get himself fit ASAP.
Hetmyer was last seen consoling his fans about his non selection .
