Guyana’s Shepherd out of Super50 due to family emergency; Richie Looknauth called up

Guyana Harpy Eagles all-rounder Romario Shepherd is out of the CG United Super50 Cup due to a family emergency.

The 28-year-old has been replaced by the Demerara all-rounder Richie Looknauth.

Looknauth struck an unbeaten half-century against Berbice in the final of the GCB Senior-Inter County Super50 tournament in September.

Shepherd, who missed Sunday’s win against Barbados Pride at St Augustine, had 55 runs and seven wickets in his four matches for the Harpy Eagles in the tournament.

The all-rounder has 66 List A games to his credit with 76 wickets at 32.44 and 827 runs at 21.20.

Looknauth, an off-spinner, has been called up to the Guyana team for the first time.

He represented the Marchin Patriots cricket team of Trinidad, leading them to a 12-run victory over Caldrac Club in the TTCB Premier II 50-over tournament in May.

Guyana returns to action in the Super50 Cup on 1 November against the West Indies Academy at St Augustine.

On Sunday, they beat the Barbados Pride by 56 runs with Gudakesh Motie taking 5 for 17.
