Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed that the Lanka Premier League 2023 Auction will take place on June 14, with over 500 players having registered themselves for the T20 tournament. This will be the fourth edition of the top-tier T20 league, which will kick off on July 31 and conclude on August 22.

For those who don’t know, SLC has decided to model the competition after the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. The five franchises that will be participating in the auction will have a spending purse of US$ 500,000 each.

Several star players, including the likes of Pakistani captain Babar Azam and former Bangladeshi captain Shakib al Hasan, have already been signed before the auction.

Colombo Strikers: Babar Azam, Matheesha Pathirana, Naseem Shah, Chamika Karunaratne

Dambulla Aura: Matthew Wade, Kusal Mendis, Lungi Ngidi, Avishka Fernando

Jaffna Kings: David Miller, Thisara Perera, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Maheesh Theekshana

Kandy Falcons: Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Wanindu Hasaranga, Fakhar Zaman, Angelo Mathews

Galle Gladiators: Shakib Al Hasan, Dasun Shanaka, Tabraiz Shamsi, Bhanuka Rajapaksa

Talking about the LPL 2023 Auction players list, all eyes will be on Suresh Raina who has registered on the highest base price category which is $50,000 (around 41 lakh rupees).

Along with Raina; international stars like Chris Lynn, Rassie Van der Dussen, and Wahab Riaz will also go under the hammer. Each franchise will have a squad for 20-24 players, which includes a mandatory six overseas players.
