Despite MI’s disappointing season, In the 59th match of the IPL 2022, Mumbai Indians dropped their veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard from the XI against CSK.
The reason for Pollard’s rest was explained by Mumbai Indians Director of Cricket Operations Zaheer Khan after the match.
Mumbai Indians made two adjustments on Thursday (may 12).
the 21-year-old Tristan Stubbs will have a huge place to fill in the MI squad as he replaced star all-rounder Kieron Pollard who’s been a big influence in MI’s batting lineup and gave Hrithik Shokin a chance to replace Murugan Ashwin..
Zaheer Khan explained the reason for Pollard’s drop after the match. Mr Zaheer Khan said the team management wanted them to try new faces.
He stated:
“Pollard has been one of the primary keys to the success of this organization over the past, he’s been part of the procedures through and through. As an individual and member of the core group, he was on board, it wasn’t easy on him but he made it simple for us.”
He added,
“Pollard has been a great team man Pollard is a wonderful team player. He’s been a terrific team man. Even today, it was nice to witness his efforts from the sidelines.”
Also Mumbai Indians Skipper Rohit Sharma at the toss, said that the decision to remove Pollard was made with the future in mind.
In the 2022 IPL, Pollard was out of his rhythm. In the 11 matches he scored just 144 runs and took just four wickets.
