WI vs ENG, Possible Playing XI’s For 1st ODI: West Indies will be keen to start the Series on a good note

The white-ball tour between West Indies and England will start on 3rd December with the 1st One-Day International match at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. The tour will feature 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is.

West Indies could not be a part of the World Cup this year which came as a huge setback for the national team. They would want to have a new start in the 50-over format and play a confident game at home.

The West Indies ODI squad will be led by wicket-keeper batsman Shai Hope who has been leading the team for a while now. The team is equipped with new young talent as well.

England, on the other hand, had a disappointing run in the World Cup as they were eliminated in the league stage. Jos Buttler will try to heal the World Cup wounds and move on from there and play impactful cricket.

Jos Buttler will lead the England ODI squad once again. Pacer Josh Tongue was ruled out of the tour due to injury and Matthew Potts has been included to replace him.

The last time WI and ENG faced each other in an ODI series was in 2019 when the 5-match series was drawn 2-2. West Indies has not won an ODI series against England since 2007.

West Indies and England have played 102 ODIs against each other out of which England has the upper hand with 52 wins while the former has won on 44 occasions. 6 matches have ended in no-result.

Both the teams dominate the ODI head to head record at their home grounds while England has the edge at neutral venues with 12 wins in 18 matches.
