Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Motie in Harpy Eagles side for 4th round clash – Check Full squad

The Guyana Cricket Board, on Monday, announced its Guyana Harpy Eagles 4-Day team for the fourth-round matches of the West Indies Championship 2023, to be played on home soil.

Test players Tagenarine Chanderpual and Gudakesh Motie have been included in the Guyana Harpy Eagles side for the Cricket West Indies fourth-round regional four-day encounter starting at the Providence National Stadium.

The 13-man squad was released on Monday, with the injured wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble and all-rounder Keemo Paul making way for the Test pair.

Bramble suffered a nasty blow to the face while keeping to a Ronsford Beaton delivery during the 143-run victory over Red Force in the last round and hasn’t fully recovered, while all-rounder Keemo Paul is unavailable for selection due to IPL commitments with Lucknow Super Giants.

This is according to a press release from the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB).

The team was selected by GCB’s Chairman of the Senior Selection Committee Ramnaresh Sarwan along with selectors Albert Clements, Peter Persaud and Royan Fredericks.

The Harpy Eagles will play Jamaica Scorpions in their fourth-round WIC match at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, commencing from 10:00 hours tomorrow, Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Following Round three’s completion in the Cricket West Indies 2022/23 West Indies Championship, current leader, Guyana Harpy Eagles m, have established a lead of 11.2 points ahead of their closest competitor as they prepare for the penultimate round.

The Harpy Eagles have recorded two wins and a draw from the three matches they have played to amass a total of 49 points in the four-day tournament. They lead the points table with 22 match points, claiming 7 pace bowling points, 6 batting points and 9 bowling points.

Windward Volcanoes finished second with 37.8 points in their latest result as they picked up their first win in three games. The Volcanoes have recorded draws in rounds one and two but are backed by a favorable points tally that currently stands at 18.

The Leeward Islands Hurricanes are third with 34.2 points with one win and two draws. Like the Volcanoes, they have accumulated 18 points so far. The top three teams are unbeaten while the bottom three teams have conceded defeat.

Defending champions Barbados Pride have had a torrid time this season and sit fourth with 31.2 points from a win and two losses. Bajans are fourth highest in the points bracket with 12 points.

Darren Bravo’s Trinidad and Tobago Red Force franchise remains fifth with 24.8 points, 12 of which have come from bonus points. They are yet to taste victory this season. Two wins and one loss in as many matches.

The fifth and final round will start on March 29.
