The captain of the Gujarat Titan team and former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard still have close relationship. They have some great memories of the time they played together for the Mumbai Indians.
Hardik pandya commented on his friend before today’s match. There he said Pollard would like to get his team up next year. But he said it would never happen.
“I wish Polly (Pollard) to have the best day for him, but we win. I kind of messaged him few days as well that hope you’re okay and hope you’re doing well. I said we kind of miss you here. In a joking way, I said ‘You never know, you might come to us next year!’ It’s my wish but I know it’s never going to happen.”
However, Kieron Pollard has failed throughout the tournament this season and in today’s match too he was able to score only 04 runs in 14 balls. But today they failed to achieve the victory that the Pandyas had hoped for.
However, the Mumbai Indians got off to a very good start today. Ishan Kishan scored 45 off 29 balls while skipper Rohit Sharma scored 43 off 28 balls. Tim David scored a quickfire 44 off 21 balls. However, the other middle order batsmen were not so successful and Mumbai Indians were restricted to 177 for 06 in 20 overs.
Rashid Khan took two wickets while Ferguson, Sangawan and West Indies fast bowler Alzari Joseph shared one wicket each. joseph boweld 04 overs and gave 41 runs for MI.
However, the Gujarat Titans scored only 172 runs for the loss of 05 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Shah and shubman Gill scored half centuries. Accordingly, Mumbai Indians recorded their second win of the tournament.
177 looked like a par score and GT were firm favorite to win it but credit to the MI bowlers. GT were 95 at the hallway mark and with two set batters out there but the tides turn as M. Ashwin came and took both set opaners
In bowling, Murugan Ashwin took two wickets and Kieron pollard got one. Daniel Sam restricted the innings to three runs in the final over and MI won the match by 5 runs.
