In a big setback for the Royals franchise in the South Africa league, West Indies ace pacer Obed McCoy has been ruled out of the upcoming SA2023 edition due to injury.
Top T20 talent from around the globe as well as South Africa’s homegrown heroes and rising stars will clash in the inaugural edition of SA20.
The six teams set to line up in the first SA20 season include in-demand imports Jos Buttler and Rashid Khan, T20 trailblazers Faf Du Plessis and Eoin Morgan, and South Africa sensations Kagiso Rabada and Rilee Rossouw.
Paarl Royals had signed a total of four players before going to the auction. The four players included Corbin Bosch, David Miller, Obed McCoy and Jos Buttler.
Obed McCoy has been capped at T20I and ODI levels by the West Indies. The big fast bowler was particularly impressive with figures of six for 17 in August 2022 against India which helped the home team to seal a memorable victory.
🚨 Update: Obed will not be taking part in the upcoming SA20 season, due to injury.
