Brandon King scored a brilliant 104 of just 66 balls but that too could not save Tallawahs from defeat against the Warriors in CPL 2022.
Shai Hope’s 45-ball 60 and Odean smith and Keemo Paul death-overs batting carnage powered Guyana Amazon Warriors to their second victory of the season and one that keeps their playoff hopes alive.
The Tallawahs won the toss and opted to field first and but for the final three overs of the Amazon Warriors innings that seemed like an inspired decision.
But Shai Hope scored a fighting 60 for the Warriors Earlier in the innings. but Warriors were rattled early as they lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Chandrapaul Hemraj and Shakib Al Hasan inside the PowerPlay.. Warrior’s fate didn’t change after the first phase either as the middle-order whittled too, as they were down to 87 for 5 by the 14th over.
Restricting the Amazon Warriors to 104/7 after 17 overs the Tallawahs looked in full control but Odean Smith and Keemo Paul added 74 from 27 balls to guide the Amazon Warriors to a magnificent 178/8.
In reply, Tallawahs innings got wrapped at 166. Despite the WIN Warriors stay last in CPL 2022 Points Table with 5 points from 7 matches.
The total looked beyond the Tallawahs but Brandon King led a lone charge with the first Hero CPL century of the tournament.
Taking the chase down to the final over, King was dismissed with three balls to go and with that victory slipped out of The Tallawahs’ reach.
“It means a lot actually coming home. Our first home game of the tournament and coming off a few bad ones in Trinidad as well. So it’s nice to actually have a win and to have these two points as well. Right.”
