The regional cricket competition returns on October 29, with the Caribbean’s 50-over cricket rivalries competing for the first time since February 2021.
This year’s Super50 Cup will feature six franchises, which include Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, Barbados Pride, Guyana Harpy Eagles, Jamaica Scorpions, Guyana Jaguars, Windward Islands Volcanoes and Leeward Islands Hurricanes.
They will be joined by the West Indies Academy and Combined Campuses & Colleges which will be played in Antigua and Trinidad from October 29 to November 19.
This will be a good opportunity for West indies coaches and selectors to consider and select for the West Indies ODI team for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup and also a good opportunity for players from across the West Indies.
“The players will now be available for the tournament upon their return to the Caribbean on October 25 whilst some of the Test players will remain in Melbourne to prepare for the upcoming Test Series against Australia,” a CWI release said Sunday.
“Due to the returning T20 World Cup contingent, CWI will allow larger squads from the originally stipulated 14 players.”
“However, this will only be applicable for the period prior to the departure of the West Indies
Test team on November 8 when the franchises must revert to 14 players only,” the CWI added.
The only two-time winners of the T20 World Cup, the West Indies, have gone crashing out in the first round of the 2022 edition.
