ENG vs WI: Akeem Jordan replaces injured Jeremiah Louis in West Indies squad

Pace bowler Jeremiah Louis has been ruled out of the final Test against England due to a hamstring injury and West Indies have called up fast bowler Akeem Jordan to replace Louis for the third Test. Jordan, who has represented the West Indies in two ODIs, is yet to make his debut in the longest format.

Jordan will join the squad on Wednesday, 24 July, and will participate in the training session at Edgbaston, the venue for the last Test. Meanwhile, Louis, who had not played in the series, sustained his injury during the second match at Trent Bridge. He will continue to travel with the team to receive treatment.

“We’ve faced some tough challenges, but it’s crucial we regroup and give our best effort in the final Test,” Brathwaite said. “Akeem brings a lot of promise, and we believe he can make a significant contribution.”

Waiting for his first Test cap, Jordan has shown considerable promise in domestic cricket. He has played 19 first-class matches, picking up 67 wickets at an average of 24.1, including two five-wicket hauls.

Apart from Jordan, the West Indies squad features a strong fast-bowling contingent, including Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, and Jayden Seales.

However, the series outcome has already been decided, with England securing an unassailable 2-0 lead after defeating the West Indies by an innings and 114 runs at Lord’s and by 241 runs at Trent Bridge. The third and final Test will commence on Friday, 26 July.

The West Indies’ bowling unit is expected to remain unchanged for the third Test, starting on Friday, July 26, with Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, and all-rounder Jason Holder having already demonstrated their capabilities in the first two Tests.

The upcoming Test promises to be an opportunity for the West Indies to showcase their depth and talent, despite the series outcome already being determined.
