“He wants to play for the West Indies” – Skipper Pooran confirmed that Hetmyer working on his Comeback

The 1st ODI match between India and West Indies will be played on 22nd July at the Queen’s Park Oval.

West Indies last played an ODI series against Bangladesh recently. In the three-match series, West Indies lost 0-3 facing a whitewash. Bangladesh defeated West Indies by 6 wickets in the 1st ODI, 9 wickets in the 2nd ODI, and 4 wickets in the 3rd ODI.

India is currently placed at the third position on the ICC Men’s ODI rankings while West Indies is placed at the ninth spot on the rankings.

Although, West indies Left-hand Batter Shimron Hetmyer is not in the West Indies squad named for the ODI series But he has now joined the West Indies team and started his preparations ahead of the Indian Series.

The big-hitting Shimron Hetmyer remained unavailable for West indies due to fitness issues and injury / Personal reasons Since Last Australia

In the pre-Match press conference on Thursday Captain Nicholas Pooran confirmed that Hetmyer is working on his fitness with the squad.

“I  love him in this ODI series now. But he is here doing a lot of work on his fitness as well, and he has been putting in a lot of work. That is really nice to see the effort that he has been putting in. He wants to play for the West Indies and trainers and coaches working with him, so expect to see him sooner than later. I have full confidence that he will be putting on the maroon colors again,” Pooran said

“yes he has a fitness test to pass shortly, so he is preparing himself for that.” Pooran added
