West indies, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Guyanese batter Shimron Hetmyer and his wife Nirvani on Tuesday presented G$1.5 million to the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), renewing his sponsorship of the Hetmyer/BCB Cricket Trust Fund for the fifth consecutive year.
Hetmyer, in the company of his wife Nirvanie visited the office of BCB President Hilbert Foster where the presentation was made.
The BCB president expressed thanks to the Hetmyer for their continued assistance to the development of the game and wish them the best.
“The couple had committed to assisting Berbice cricket as long as Foster remains as its president as they were very impressed with his leadership and vision. The funds would be used to donate balls to all second division teams in the county and to host a second division tournament in New Amsterdam/Canje and a primary school tapeball cup in the same area,” Foster posted on his Facebook page.
Foster also used the opportunity to express gratitude to the couple for their continued investment in the development of the sport in the county and wished them success.
Hetmyer, who missed the first two games of the ongoing Senior Inter- County 50-over competition due to illness, is set to return to the squad for the third-round match against Essequibo at the GCC ground, Bourda, from 09:00h on Thursday.
