“I wouldn’t like the IPL to be a part of their motivation.” Monty Desai talks about the Indian series

The Indian team was touring the Caribbean for 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. The tour started on July 22 and will end on August 7.

West Indies batting coach Monty Desai has made it clear that his players do not want to think about an IPL contract when they play a three-match ODI series against India.

In an interview with Sportkreeda Cricket, West Indies batting coach Monty Desai said that he does not want the players to think about the IPL when they play ODI cricket.

“If you ask me, when we’re about to play an ODI series, I wouldn’t like the IPL to be a part of their motivation. When you play an international game, your primary motive should be to represent your country in the best possible way. If you do that, everything else will fall into place.”

So far, 02 ODIs have been completed and after a firery finish, India managed to win both the matches. In the first match, India batted first and managed to score 308 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Skipper Shikhar Dhawan scored 97 runs, Shubman Gill scored 64 runs and Shreyas Iyer scored 54 runs to strengthen the Indian innings.  Also in bowling, two wickets were shared between Alsari Joseph, and Moti, and one wicket each between Shepherd and Hossain.

Shepherd and Hossain of the West Indies team who played the reply innings gave a very tough fight to win the match and had to lose by 3 runs at the last moment. Shepherd scored 39 runs and Hossain scored 32 runs.

In the second match, West Indies batted first and managed to score 311 runs for 6 wickets.  Shai hope scored 115 runs and Nicholas Pooran scored 74 runs. Shadul Thakur took 03 wickets.

In 48.4 overs, the Indian team was able to pass the required number of runs by losing only 08 wickets. Axar patel got 64 runs and iyer got 63 runs. Kyle Mayers and Alsari Joseph took two wickets each. The third match will be played on the 27th.
