The 6ixty, a brand new T10 tournament organized by Cricket West Indies, is expected to be held from Wednesday, August 24 to Sunday, August 28 ahead of the CPL season.

The 6IXTY tournament includes six men’s teams and three women’s teams.  The tournament will be held on August 24 in St. Kitts and Nevis The tournament will feature 12 men’s matches and 7 women’s matches over five days of fast-paced action.

This revolutionary format will see the latest innovations that will change T10 cricket and make the game more fast-paced and action-packed.

The first edition of THE 6IXTY will see the men’s and women’s teams compete for 2022 in a new 60-ball tournament featuring some of the best cricketers from around the world with title sponsor SKYEXCH.

Men’s and women’s teams will battle it out for the Universe Boss trophy, named in honor of tournament ambassador Chris Gayle. he commented on this new Tournament in an interview with ESPN. However, he mentioned that he is still waiting to play cricket again.

“I’m really excited to be back in the field. I missed it. I’m like a kid again, looking forward to the first game… For my debut. I’ll have to get back in shape. I’m still in shape but just a li’ll prep here and there to get in that mindset of playing cricket,” he said.

Before that, Gayle, who is renowned to be one of the best-ever batters in the shortest format of the game, raved about his bowling skills, even going to the extent of terming himself as the best off-spinner in the world, albeit in jest.

“You know what? My bowling is natural. Definitely, I have to bowl. I’m the greatest off-spinner of all time. Murali (Muttiah Muralitharan) won’t contest that for sure.

I have the best economy, not even Sunil Narine can come close to that,” Gayle, who has 83 wickets in T20s, told ESPNCricinfo.

Commenting further on this new tournament, Gayle said that it will be exciting because of the new rules and new discoveries.

“some new rules, new innovations within this game, and a shorter format as well. So it’s pretty much exciting. It’s something. It’s creating a buzz within the Caribbean. There’s a buzz within the Caribbean all over the world as well. Everybody’s got to tune in and see what the 60is all about, just like you guys are, for sure. I’m upbeat about it.”

As well,

“You guys are going to say, hey, this guy doesn’t run. But, yeah, this is what the 60s all about, hitting the 60s. Now, you definitely don’t need to run. You want to see the ball climb or to the park. You’re getting those Bungees as well.”

Gayle also opined that the recent bowlers are creative bowlers and to some extent, it will be quite challenging.

“Bowlers nowadays are creative. They’ve got a lot of variations and they make it challenging for the batters. Of course, the batting part is more dominant in shorter forms but the bowlers have a lot of skills to make it uncomfortable for the batter. It’s gonna be interesting from the batters’ point of view. Saint Kitts is a small ground, I’m expecting good pitches. It’s gonna be exciting, there’s gonna be a lot of chaos. It’ll be up to us how we make it even more interesting for the fans out there,” he added.

However, in the last few matches, the West Indian bowler bowled Slow overrated. According to Gayle, it is a captain’s responsibility to slow down the ball as it flies across the park.

“Yeah, bowling over Too slow, actually. You want to lose the field. I mean, that can be some part of international cricket as well, because we have so many slow over it over the years and they’ve been trying to clamp down on that as much as possible. But as a captain, when the ball is flying all over the park, you have to slow it down. It’s a bit of strategy as well.”

And,

“I will probably be the first one to get 100 and that one. Yeah, that would be nice. It’s possible. I mean, not only for me, for these batters as well. These guys are going back on these days when I look around the world, what’s happening? So everybody is so innovative now and they can play all these shots.360 for the striker is phenomenal. And a particular day, any battle is getting that momentum, they can do a lot of damage. So when the time comes,” he concluded
