Chris Gayle on Wednesday had seemingly made a hint about his return to West Indies.
Two-time champions West Indies failed to qualify for the Super 12 stage of the T20 showpiece in Australia after suffering defeats to Scotland and Ireland in the first round.
Gayle last played for West Indies at the T20 World Cup last year in the UAE. And while many assumed that Gayle would retire then, he confirmed that he wasn’t planning to say goodbye yet! Nonetheless, the 43-year-old cricketer isn’t going anywhere.
Recently, Gayle shared an Instagram story where he can be seen sweating it out at the gym and revealed that he is preparing for World Cup 2023.
At the same time, the Caribbean all-rounder is also working hard and not compromising on his fitness levels in order to make himself available for the World Cup 2023 ?
Chris Gayle, on Wednesday (OCT 26) evening, posted a series of videos on his Instagram story where he can be seen sweating it out in the gym with an intense workout session where he supposedly. The first story post is captioned as, “In prep for the World Cup!”

The left-hander recently played in the 6IXTY Men’s Competition followed by a stint in the inaugural edition of the Legends League Cricket.
Also, In earlier this year The 43-year-old made a hint for return to the IPL next year. He last represented the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League.
Gayle has been part of three franchises in IPL history. He was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2009 and in his two year stint he scored 463 runs in 16 innings with two half-centuries.
His most memorable time came at the Royal Challengers Bangalore who signed him in 2011.
He played 84 innings for the franchise scoring 3163 runs at 43.3 and a strike rate of 152.7 with five centuries and 19 fifties. In 2018, after going unsold twice at the auction, he was picked by Punjab Kings for INR 2 crore. He scored 1339 runs for the team in 41 games.
Gayle, famously known as the ‘Universe Boss’, hasn’t formally announced his retirement yet, and continues to play for the West Indies in the limited-overs format.
Following his last game against Australia in Worldcup 2021, Gayle insisted that he would “love to play” another T20 World Cup.
“I’d love to play one more World Cup. But I don’t think they will allow me. It’s been a phenomenal career. I didn’t announce any retirement but they actually give me one game in Jamaica to go in front of my home crowd, then I can say ‘hey guys, thank you so much.’ Let’s see,” Gayle had said In 2021.
The left-handed Windies batter is the highest run-getter in the history of T20s, having scored 14,321 runs in 453 matches so far.
