IND vs WI 1st ODI: [watch] Shubman Gill dismissed after Nicholas Pooran’s brilliant Direct-hit.

India opener Shubman Gill was dismissed after scoring 64 runs following a Direct-Hit from Windies captain Nicholas Pooran. The incident happened in the 18th over of India’s innings.

India beat West Indies by three runs in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Invited to bat, India posted a mammoth 308 for 7 with captain Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with a 99-ball 97.

Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 64 and 54 respectively.

Gill was run-out in the 18th over of the innings and the incident happened on the fourth ball of the over. Windies skipper Nicholas Pooran made a direct hit, and hence the right-hander had to walk back after scoring 64 runs.

In the eighteenth over, Alzarri Joseph bowled a back-of-a-length delivery. Gill tucked it to the right of mid-wicket and he raced across for a run.

There was an easy single on offer, but his lazy piece of running and Nicholas Pooran’s brilliant effort ended Gill’s stay at the crease. Pooran picked up the ball, turned around, and threw it quickly to pull off a great run-out.

Gill and Dhawan had put on 119 runs for the opening wicket. While the right-hander scored 64, Dhawan also missed out on his century as he departed after registering 97 runs.

In Chasing, the West Indies could only score 305 for 6 in 50 overs.

Kyle Mayers top-scored for the West indies with 75 while Shamarh Brooks and Brandon King contributed 46 and 54 respectively.

For India, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets each.
